Wondrous things reveal themselves

February 18, 2021 by Brooks Palmer Leave a Comment

The best things often happen in between or during tasks. Like this morning I was brushing my teeth, and my attention went out the window, through the blinds, and I noticed a tree. I felt like I caught the tree in a private reflective moment.

And then when I was taking the kitchen trash to the outside trash bin, I noticed a leaf on bush next to the sidewalk. I felt like it winked at me.

Two nights ago I woke up and got out of bed to get glass of water. On my way to the sink I heard the owl hooting. I’ve never seen the owl. It lives in a tree in our backyard. It doesn’t hoot every night. I felt lucky.

Yesterday I was out for a walk, listening to the song Temptation by Elvis Costello through my earbuds. The bass line dominated the song. I’d never noticed it before. It seemed alive to me. Like the bass was saying it was singing the song and the vocals were there only to support. I was a fan of that bass.

Just now I stopped to scratch my nose and I could feel the air against my skin. The air was soothing. It felt like a friend.

Praise

Brooks Palmer was the speaker for our organization’s Spring Workshop.  His wonderful presentation on Clutterbusting was informative, interactive and fun.    His stories, examples and suggestions on how to address our own “clutter” situations were tremendously helpful.   I personally was able to take his tips and begin the task of de-cluttering my own office.
