The time of compassion

January 11, 2021 by Brooks Palmer 2 Comments

Now is the time of compassion. Caring for ourselves and others. It’s the caring that makes us feel fulfilled.

To demean others, to not show respect for their hearts, to create division by labeling those who are not like us as enemies, we suffer. We can never win by trying to weaken those who we regard as not on our side.

The antidote for this kind of suffering is to act with care. It’s innate within us to care. All it needs is to be nurtured. It’s amazing how quickly we can feel spiritually, mentally, and physically restored when we begin to act with love.

Essentially there are no “others.” There are the apparent differences. But deep down on a feeling level we are the same. It takes a gentle courage to take that look, and to find ourselves acting from what we see and feel.

Thank you for posting this. People across the country need to take a deep breathe and ponder our actions. Slow down.

Praise

Brooks Palmer was fantastic. In fact, he was one of the best professional speakers we’ve ever heard. We received several positive comments regarding the speaking event. One patron commented on how compassionate Brooks was.  She said he never used the word “hoarder”.  Many patrons completed surveys and asked us to have more programs like this one.  Great job!
