I decided to grow fruit trees from apricot and peach pits. I looked up how to do it on youtube. I learned you crack open the pits and put the hidden seeds in wet paper towels and store them in the fridge for a few weeks. I loved cracking open the pits. I sat on the floor and used a wrench and a hammer. I had to be delicate so as not to hurt the seed within.
I was intrigued by the rugged strength of the pit and the softness of the seed. The pit’s job is to protect the seed. The seed has to be soft because it has to be flexible and vulnerable to bring forth the tree. Life is flexible. It’s flow is constantly changing. It was a reminder to me not be hard but vulnerable. That’s where love, and vitality, and creativity exist.
