I was thinking about how relief is one of the best feelings. For instance, sometimes my back hurts. But then there are times when it doesn’t. When it doesn’t, it feels great. That’s because the pain has been removed. There’s relief. And it feels wonderful.
That’s one of the nice things about pain. I know that when it’s gone, I get to feel amazing.
I encourage you to give it a try. Then next time you’re in the midst of a difficult problem or are feeling a lot of pain, see what it’s like to anticipate the relief you’ll be feeling when it’s gone. It’s the opposite of what we usually feel, which is, “This pain is going to never end.”
And when the pain or painful situation goes away, try to notice the feeling of relief taking its place.

I’ll be doing a live Clutter Busting talk tomorrow Friday May 15th on YouTube at 1pm PST, 4pm EST at https://www.youtube.com/user/brookspalmer
I know exactly what you mean. I get migraines, but they respond in about an hour to medication. After that hour, I am flooded with relief because the pain is gone. Sometimes I set a timer so I know when the relief will arrive. It really helps!
You know exactly what I mean, Louise! That’s great that you can take medicine to feel better!
