Your attention is valuable. So many people, things, and organizations want your attention. Websites, advertisements, movies, people, social media sites, political groups, salespeople, charities, religious groups, music, email, just to name a few.
Right now you’re giving me your attention. I’m grateful that you did. And I want to honor it by highlighting its worth. Your attention is so incredibly valuable. It helps to be reminded of its significance.
Those that want your attention often make it appear that what they have to offer is worth more than your attention. Hearing this so many times, it’s easy to start to believe that you are less and need what’s offered in order to be better. As a result, your may have found yourself giving up your attention to things that weren’t fulfilling.
When you feel lost in things that aren’t feeding you emotionally, spiritually, and physically, it can help to step away from where you are giving your attention. Take a moment with yourself. Maybe that means taking a breath, or a nap, closing your eyes for a moment, or going for a walk. Putting your attention on you is very simple and powerful. It puts you in touch with a natural part of yourself that helps you sense what you actually need.
