Thinking about clutter sucks. It makes us tired. Even thinking about decluttering is exhausting.
But the looking, the asking, “Do I like and use this, or not?” and the letting go feels great. It energizes us.
I saw that with a recent client. For the first few minutes of the session she told me about how awful it was to live with her clutter. But then once we started, she got peaceful. She was doing something positive and it made her feel better.
That’s why I encourage the starting. That means setting aside the time to take that curious look. Or stepping away from your computer right now, and beginning to look, ask, and let go.
