Hi. I hope you’re doing okay. It’s nice to connect with you again. I was thinking of underrated value of space. Space goes unnoticed because nothing is in it. It appears to be empty.
But my experience is when I start to consider space, it becomes alive to me. It has a feeling to it – of vitality and potential and life.
When I work with clients, I often have them take a moment after they cleared out an area to notice the space they created. At first it seems like an odd request because it seems like it’s just an empty space. But when people look, they begin to notice the benefits of the space. It feels alive to them. It’s a lively presence. And it’s supportive and friendly.
So, let’s take a moment to notice the space you’re sitting in. It actually doesn’t matter if there are things in this space or not. You can do this with your eyes open or closed. Imagine the space you are sitting in. Let you mind, awareness, and senses experience the space as if they are fingers. See if you can sense the space. It doesn’t have to be any specific kind of experience. It’s going to be your own sensation. It can be tiny or big. It can be visual, tactile, aural, sensual, or anything else.
Take your time, I’ll wait.
When you looked at your space, did it come alive to you? What we put our attention on gets enlivened. It’s like water for plants. We water them, and they grow. I encourage you over time to continue putting your attention on your living space. I call it living because you might have started to see that space has a feeling of presence. It has a vibrancy to it.
Now use your attention to notice the space within you. With that same discernment, let your awareness notice your inner space. Scan and see.
I’m doing it now for myself. It feels like life is vibrating inside of me. It feels like invisible waves cascading around.
We have an inner space. We often don’t notice because it’s easy to get caught up in the aches and pains in our body. But those aches and pains exist within a space. They are in the container of you. What does that container itself feel like? Use your curiosity to take your look.
